Club Championships 2015
First of all this week we start by congratulating our two new club champions. On Sunday Danny Perring won the Men's Club Cchampionship, Closed and Open Cups, with fabulous gross scores of 73 and 67 totalling 140! Well played Danny that's great golf, I hope the lesson we had a couple of weeks ago helped contribute to your fantastic day! Danny won by six shots from Chris Duffy who totalled 146 for two rounds with Danny Western in third on 147. Danny also took home the handicap prize, The Sir John Drughorn Trophy, totalling 136 for two rounds off his handicap of two. Second came Andy Browne totalling 138 and third on countback on 139 was Chris Beare.
Last Wednesday saw the Ladies Club Championship where Heather Harvey also won both the scratch and the handicap competitions. Heather won the J Baker Cup for winning the handicap prize with a nett total of 144 over two rounds, on countback from Victoria Watson also on 144 with Anne Amos third on 147. Heather also won the A Howlett Cup for winning the scratch prize with a total of 170 for her two rounds, Anne Amos came second with 179 and third came Jan Parson with 189. The 18 hole competition, held on the same day, was won by Jayne Standen with a nett 73.
President's Day
On Saturday we had the rerun of the President's Day Greensomes competition which was won by Pat and Shelia Sterry with a fantastic 43 points! Barrie and Vicki Peake came in second with 41 points.
Stableford
Last Thursday's Stableford Division One was won by Johnathan Ling (great, I have Captain/Pro match against he and his dad this Thursday!) with 42 points, the scorching hot David Watson came second with 41 points. Division Two was won by Richard Smart with 42 points with another form player, Peter Thompson, second with 42 points but lost on the countback.
Captain/Pro Match
As I mentioned earlier Captain Mark and I have a Captain/Pro match on Thursday afternoon against Martin and Johnathan Ling which we are very much looking forward too and I will let you know the result next week.
If you are interested in taking on the Captain and I please click here to get in touch.
A fond farewell...
To finish with this week I have some sad news. My assistant Frazer will be leaving me at the end of this month. Although he has enjoyed his short time at Gorleston and everyone has made him very welcome, he is not enjoying the travel to work from Dereham (what that says about my driving I don't know), but I wish him well in the future and I know what ever he goes on to do he will make a success of it!
But as one door closes another opens and I am pleased to announce that I have already lined up Frazer's replacement in a Great Yarmouth & Caister lad called Oli Cribb. Some of you may already know Oli as he is a local lad and seems a very polite, courteous young man who plays off a handicap of four. I'm sure we will all make him feel very welcome when he starts on the Sunday, 26 July.
