On the Course... In a horrible week weather-wise for golf, the men still managed to play two competitions. Last Thursday they played their Mid-week Stableford where Geoff Hall made light of the wet conditions to return the best of the day, by five points, 41 points to win Division Two beating Steve Heard in to second. Division One was a tight affair with three players all finishing on 36 points, but it was Eddie Reid that won on countback beating Keith Wright and Martin Pestle in to second and third respectively. On Sunday the men played their Monthly Stableford in a very stiff, cold, easterly breeze where it really was survival of the fittest. Fittest of them all was Andy Klein who returned a best of the day 36 points, 3-under CSS, to win Division Two by two points from Angus Smith and Roger Cook. In Division One hardy Jim Robinson won with 34 points and in Division Three Barry Landles continued his little resurgence in form by winning with 33 points, beating Andy Witthames on count back. A special mention goes to John Hopwood who was the only person to get a two on the day so therefore won £57 on to his pro shop account, well done John. |
