On the Course... Ok next on to competition news and we’ll start with the first Men’s Winter Mid-week Stableford played last Thursday where Jamie Gough pipped his good friend John Cater by a point, 40 and 39 respectively, to win Division One. In Division Two Kevin Shaw had a nice return to form to win with 40 points, beating Andy Klein in to second with 39. On a very cold Saturday morning the mixed section played a 16 hole foursomes competition where Sue and Angus Smith won with an impressive, bearing in mind the conditions and format, 32 points. In second came Jackie Walsh and Martin Bullen who beat Penny Platten and Andy Elliot on countback both with 30 points. On Sunday the men played their Monthly Stableford where Brendan Gough won Division One with 40 points beating Mark Seeley in to second with 38 points. Andy “Arthur” Dyson won Division Two with 41 points beating Peter Langford in to second with 40 points and Barry Landles won Division Three with 37 points beating Barrie Peake in to second with 35 points. On Wednesday the ladies played their Bring and Win competition where Chris Knappett won with 35 points beating Maureen Duckett, who had a really good lesson last week too, in to second with 33 points on a tough windy day on top of the cliffs. Plenty of practice needed today ready for a Pro-Am with Ray Pope, Stuart Pearce and Mark Chorley at my boyhood club, Royal Cromer, on Friday. |
