On the Course... Ok competition news now and we’ve got a lot to get through as I was away last week so we’ll go back to Saturday, 6 November and the Saturday Roll-up where Brendan Gough won with 38 points. On the same weekend the Men had their Monthly Medal where Mark Newson won Division One with a nett 68. Stuart Pearce won Division Two with a nett 72 and Martin Bullen won Division Three with a nett 68. I’m especially pleased with Mark winning Division One as Mark had been struggling to put a score together. Mark has had several lessons over the last couple of years and always struck the ball very well, but his score never reflected how good his ball striking was so we decided he needed an on course lesson to work out why. It soon became clear that Mark had no routine, so was never mentally prepared to hit the shot he wanted to hit so would be easily distracted, lose concentration and therefore hit a poor shot. It was only a small thing, but it’s something that all the best golfers have, their mental switch on to the shot. To say thank you for my help I received a nice message from Mark below:
“Well I never. I can't say it will be like that every time I play but two doubles and three missed short putts yet I still managed a 78 and it still didn't feel as though I'd played that well. I stuck with everything we did on Tuesday. Of course it felt totally different.... tee pegs on par 3's, practice swings, start over if something isn't right and switching on for each shot, but it only bloody worked. Massive thanks Duncan... really mean that!
Golf is good again."
It was great to receive some positive feedback from Mark and if you feel that your score isn’t reflecting how you feel you're playing then why not book yourself an hours on-course lesson for £37.50 to find out why. Or, with Christmas around the corner, how about a lesson package as a present to really improve your game ready for the 2018 season.

Last Saturday, 11 November we had another Roll-up Stableford and it was another recent couple of lesson pupils, Scott Watson and Kevin O'Brien who claimed first and second respectively. Scott won with a fantastic 43 points and Kevin came second with 40 points. Well done gents keep up the good work! On Wednesday, yesterday, the ladies played their Divisional Stableford where Sue Smith won Division One with 35 points, June Elliot won Division Two with 35 points and Maggie Hart won Division Three with 31 points. |
