Hello golfers, We’ll start this week with a fantastic afternoon/evening had by all in the Pro/Captain Finals Day played last Saturday. In total we had 26 pairs playing including Captain Stuart and myself. We had 11 pairs playing in Division One, which was for those that played in the matches against Stuart and I, and 15 in Division Two which was for those who just wanted play on the day. With over £800 worth of prizes to play for competition was fierce, plus the opportunity to beat Stuart and I and win a bit of money in the beat the pro sweep. Stuart and I started well by birdieing the first two holes, but as the round went on the previous weeks toils in Le Touquet caught up with Stuart and he struggled with fatigue and I just could take advantage of the opportunities I was giving myself and we limped home with 35 points. This meant 17 pairs beat us on the day with all of them winning £3.65 each on there pro shop account. In Division Two Rob Allen and Mark Newson had a fantastic 42 points to claim the win in that division beating Colin and Chris Beare in to second with 40 points with Oli Cribb and Keith Ridsdale claiming third on countback with 37 points. In the main event, Division One, Brendan Gough and Ray Pope started with a one point head start thanks to there 1Up winning margin against Stuart and I in their match and that combined with their 41 points on the day gave them fifth place with a total of 42 points. Ady Price and Nigel Stone went in to the day with best winning margin, 5Up, which gave them a five point head start, but could only shoot 37 points on the day to give them fourth place. In third place came David Uden and Kev Carter with 39 points on the day, combined with their four point head start, gave them a total of 43 points. In second place came Daniel Crosby and Ben Leuty with 40 points on the day and with a four point head start gave them 44 points, but the clear winners on the day were Lee Chapman and Matt Alp who shot a best of the day 45 points, plus their four point head start for beating Stuart and I by four holes in their match, to give a fantastic winning total of 49 points. Well played gents thoroughly deserved. A big thank you to everyone who took part on the day, your support is always very much appreciated and big thank you to Captain Stuart for giving up your time over the course of the year to play in the matches, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your company even if our golf didn’t live up to expectations at times.
