On the Course... On to competition results now and back to last week’s Mid-week Stableford and a fantastic win, in Division One, for Rob Allen with superb 45 points. I have to say Rob is one of my star pupils. This time last year he was a 13.3 handicap who could not hit his driver for toffee, he had a big slice. Through a series of lessons over the first six months of this year and a lot of hard work from Rob, Rob learned to hit his driver so well that it is now his biggest asset, but over the last month or so his irons started to go a little left which was leading to missed greens and a lot of frustration... so he booked himself in for a refresher lesson. With a little tweak in Rob’s takeaway he soon found himself hitting greens again leading to a superb score and his handicap being cut to 7.6. Well done Rob, thoroughly deserved! In Division Two Tim Watson won with 40 points, beating Fred Simeons in to second with 39 points. On Sunday the men played the Ken Gough Trophies which was a fourball betterball bogey competition. Chris Duffy and Darren Hellary won superbly by beating the course 7Up, beating John Cater and Jamie Gough by one hole who in turn beat Stuart Pearce and Ray Pope on countback. On a tough day yesterday, Wednesday, the ladies played Divisional Medals where Heather Harvey won Division One with a nett 74, Victoria Watson won Division Two with a nett 77 and Rosemary Hodgkin won Division Three with a nett 77. |
