On the Course... Next on to competition news and we'll start with last Thursday's Men's Mid-week Stableford and a fine win in Division One for Martin Pestle with 39 points on countback from Chris Beare also with 39 points. In Division Two Andy Church pipped Peter Aldred on countback to claim the spoils, both with 37 points. On Sunday the men played their Monthly Stableford and fantastic finish of eagle, eagle (Gross two, three) down 17 and 18 saw Tommy Hunt win Division One with a superb 40 points. In second came Richard Reynolds with 38 points, beating Stephen Crosby on countback. Steve Gilchrist won Division Two with 38 points and Keith Newberry won Division Three with 37 points. On Tuesday the seniors played their Seniors' Open where 88 players came from all over Norfolk and Suffolk to play, but it was the home players that dominated the day and in particular Richard Smart who won the day with a fabulous 44 points. In second came Gerry Eagling with 40 points and third Dave Henwood with 39 points. Everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed their day with course coming in for special praise, well done Danny and his team.
On Wednesday the Ladies played there Divisional Stableford and for the Breakthrough Brooch. Sue Smith has the best score of the day, a fabulous 42 points, to claim Division Two and the Breakthrough Brooch with Maureen Duckett second in both on 40 points. Maureen Dark won Division One with 37 points beating Jayne Standen on countback. Terry Wilkinson won Division Three with 35 points. |
