Cobra Fitting Day
We'll start this week with Cobra Fitting Day taking place tomorrow, Friday. Following on from the great success of last year's Cobra Fitting Day we will be back up the practice ground between 10:00am and 2:00pm if you would like to try any of the latest Cobra equipment under my, and the Cobra Club Fitter's watchful eye. We will be using both TrackMan and the GC2 launch monitors to gather data to make recommendations to you. Cobra's biggest seller this year has been the one length irons, so if you fancy giving those a try, or any of the great products Cobra have, then please come up the practice ground between 10:00am and 2:00pm tomorrow.

Captain/Pro Challenge
Next on to the latest Captain/Pro Challenge match against Ady Price and Nigel Stone played last Thursday. After a very steady opening nine holes with both teams scoring 20 points, the 10th hole became the big turning point. Stuart, the Captain, had a bad hole but no problem as I was in the middle of the fairway with a 100 yards left in. Unfortunately I pulled my wedge slightly, just missed the green and kicked in to the long stuff. We found it, but it was buried and although I had a putt for a point from about 10 foot I missed it. Meanwhile Nigel had missed the green right for two, but with a moment of magic he chipped in for a three for four points which obviously meant a big four points swing from which Stuart and I never recovered thanks to Ady having a superb 41 points on his own. After that I kinda wished we had stuck to matchplay this year! In the end Stuart and I finished with 36 points and Nigel and Ady 41 points. Well done gents you will carry a five point headstart on to Finals Day on Saturday, 7 October.
Tonight we face my partner from last year, Neil Youngs and Dave Wooden. For those looking to challenge us, we only have one date left which is Thursday, 20 July at 4:00pm. Click here to book this slot before it's too late.
On the Course...
Next we'll move on to competition results and, as mentioned earlier, Ady Price had a fantastic game and got 41 points on his own which was obviously enough to beat Stuart and I but he also claimed victory in Division Two in the Men's Mid-week Stableford so well done Ady! Second in Division Two was Reg Cadmore who got 39 points beating Andy Woodcock and Peter Aldred on countback. In Division One Matt Gee claimed the spoils with 39 points beating Ray Thomson in to second on 38 points and Les Duke third on 37 points.
On Saturday we had the Havard Mixed Cup which Daniel Crosby won with a nett 67, beating Danny Western in to second with a nett 69 and a Chris Duffy finished third with a nett 71.
On Sunday the men played the latest round of the Hambro Cup, which is a County Knockout Cup, against Halesworth and ended up with a comfortable victory in the end by 28 holes. Next up we have Bungay at home on Sunday, 16 July in the Quarter-finals. Well done lads!
On Monday the ladies won a home friendly match against St Audry's three matches to one and on Wednesday played their Divisional Stableford and Peggy Norton Cup. Armed with her new Bushnell GPS distance measuring device, a birthday present from hubby Ivan, Heather Harvey produced the best score of the day, a superb 39 points to win Division One by four points from Jayne Standen. In Division Two it was a lot tighter with both Victoria Watson and June Elliott producing 36 points, but Victoria winning on countback. In Division Three Rosemary Hodgkin had a fantastic 38 points to win, beating Vicki Peake by five points.
Course Update
Just a quick note from Danny the Course Manager... As you may have all seen this week, when the machine has been working (it's proving to be a bit temperamental), Danny and his team have been using the flail to cut down the rough. Normally the greenkeepers, when you are playing the lads, would stop their machinery and let you play, but Danny has asked this week for that not too happen when the flail is in use. He has such a large area to cut down that if he were to keep stopping for golfers it would take an awfully long time, and after all we are hiring the flail, so your patience would be greatly appreciated as he carries on whilst you are playing. Don't worry too much about hitting him, he's well protected in the tractor cab.
