Hello golfers,
With the kids being off school and my lesson diary full up for this week, only a brief letter this week I'm afraid.
Who Are You Backing?
First off we'll start with the Masters which starts today (Thursday). It's been a pretty rough start to the week weather wise at Augusta with storms and torrential rain, but that is supposed to clear away by start of play today. The soggy course should play into favourite, Dustin Johnson's power game hands, but after his tumble down the stairs last night we wait to see how he has recovered. It should a be great Masters for English players on the back of Danny Willett's win last year, with a record 11 Englishman playing in the event. Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrell Hatton look the best chances for an English victory as they are the two form players.

On The Course...
On to competition news now and congratulations to Gorleston Ladies who defeated Flynn Valley in this year's preliminary round of the Ladies Suffolk Seniors' Jubilee Shield by eight holes to progress to the next round played on Tuesday. Well played ladies!
Staying with the ladies we'll move on to their Divisional Medals played yesterday, Wednesday. Marietta Holmes had the best score of the day, a superb nett 67, to win Division Three. Maureen Dark won Division One with a nett 72 on countback from Anne Amos and Maureen Duckett won Division Two with a nett 73.
Last Sunday the Men had their latest Monthly Medal where Howard Thornton must of started to put his superb practice swing on to his golf ball swing to return the best score of the day, a nett 67, to win Division Three. Well done Howard keep up the good work! In Division Two Jack Keyzor won with a nett 68, beating junior member Alex Barnham and James Crosswell by one shot. In Division One Ben Leuty produced a 73 (nett 68) to win, beating Course Manager Danny Perring by one shot who shot a gross 71 (nett 69).
Congratulations also go to Ray Pope who won the Medal Bowl this year with a score of 349 in the best five nett scores out of 10 over the qualifying rounds from May to April. Mark Everard and Colin Beare shared second on 354.
