New Arrivals

ReviewIn other shop news we have just taken delivery of the new Cobra One Length irons, as played by Bryson DeChambeaux. The idea behind these irons is that it takes out many of the variables in different length irons. For example, proper set-up includes foot positioning, spine angle and ball position, and many other variables. These variables change as you switch between longer and shorter length clubs, causing more room for error. With one set-up and one swing you can simplify the entire process. Every player has their favorite club and for many it's a 7-iron. With Cobra's One Length irons, you will find new confidence in your game, allowing you to play any iron in the bag as if it were your trusty 7-iron.

Please click here to see my video review. If you fancy giving these one length irons a go then we have a complete demonstration set that you can take out on the course to try. Click here to book a fitting session today.

Captains news

Captains' Drive-in

Next we'll move on to the Captains' Drive-in last Sunday afternoon. All four Captains did really well, certainly loads better than the previous two Club Captains! First up was Ladies Captain Vonnie Thornton who managed to hit her driver 152 yards down the fairway. Next up Junior Captain Jack Butcher hit his drive 200 yards, but a little left. Then came Senior Captain Tony Bushkes who hit his drive 175 yards down the fairway and finally came Club Captain Stuart Low's moment who hit it 176 yards down the fairway. Well down to all four of you, great shots under some intense pressure.

Pros news

Pro-Ams

Next up we'll move on to mine and Oli's golf and our first Pro-Am of the year at Hunstanton. I took Tony Cater, Simon Hellary and Glen Jermy with me, see photo, and Oli took Club Captain Stuart Low, Mark Everard and Keith Wright. Both teams had a fantastic day in very tough, windy, cold conditions and the condition of the course was superb for this time of year. Armed with my new Wilson Staff V6 irons and FG Tour driver and 3-wood I returned a score of 79, but struggled badly with my short game, only getting up and down from 60 yards and in two out of 12 occasions. I know what I'm practicing next week.

Oli just coming back from 10 days in Dubai, where he didn't play golf, struggled with the cold and his game and failed to, along with a few other Pros, return the score. His team although playing well in places, struggled as well, but that didn't dampen spirits and all enjoyed the day.

Next Thursday I still require two more players for my team at Great Yarmouth & Caister. If you would like to play please contact me here.

Competition news

On The Course...

On to competition news now and last week's Mid-week Stableford where Damien Foxhall shot a superb 35 points in Storm Doris. Damien's score was so good he beat the next best by five points who was Stuart Pearce with 30 points. Stuart beat three others on countback.

Yesterday, the ladies played their latest Divisional Medal. In Division One Penny Platten won with a 71 nett. In second came Pauline Phillips with 72 nett and in third came Rosemary Woodhouse with 76 nett. In Division Two Neilma Jary won with a 75 nett. In second came Sheena Emrick with a 79 nett and in third came Vicki Peake with a 80 nett.
