Great Yarmouth & Caister Pro-Am
We'll start this week with a successful Pro-Am for Oli and his team at Great Yarmouth & Caister played last Friday, here's Oli's report;
"It was a lovely day at Great Yarmouth & Caister with the sun shining and a strong gust of wind coming from the north making the course play extremely tough. However, nothing Andy Browne, Rob Allen, Ray Pope and I couldn't cope with. We started off extremely well and felt like we were making birdie after birdie. As the day went on the course got tougher and we dropped a couple of shots late on, but still came in with a score of 129 (-11) which was enough to put us joint leaders. Unfortunately, we lost on countback but none-the-less it was a great result. So a big well done to the team! As an individual I came fifth with a score of 74, two shots behind the winner which meant I took my first competition money as Pro. I would just like to say a massive thanks to all the players who have came and played these events with me. A special thanks to Ray Pope who has helped out me and Duncan this year when needing a player. I look forward to playing many more of these events in the next few years."
Well done Oli you deserve it! Oli is currently away on his first of many PGA Degree Courses that he has to go on over the next three years and is also just about to hand in his assignment ready for grading. Oli's a bright lad so I'm sure the PGA Degree will cause him no problems. However, a lot of the assignments are based on real life situations that he will face everyday in the golf club environment, so please if you need any help or advice then don't be afraid to ask Oli, as you would me, as he often has the answers but it will also give him content for his assignments.
On the Course...
Ok on to competition results now and we'll start with last Thursday's Mid-week Stableford and a win in Division One for Paul Platten who beat Colin Laws on countback both with 38 points. In Division Two Shaun Crich won with 40 points beating both Mervyn Eagle and Richard O'Neil with 39 points.

Friday Night Golf
The Friday Night Golf is a little bit slow taking off, maybe because the weather's been good and members haven't missed too many golfing days so are not desperate for a game at night just yet, but it is a great bit of fun. Well, it would appeal to me with golf and beer on the agenda, so why not get your names down on the list which is on the mixed notice board?
