On the Course...
We'll start this week with competition news and last Thursday's Mid-week Stableford and a win in Division One for Mr Reliable Ray Pope with 36 points on a tough day on the cliff tops. Ray beat Owen Derby and Jim Robinson on countback both with 36 points. In Division Two Paul, I can't hit my new clubs when clearly he can, Dashwood won with 34 points beating David Moore and Steve Howick on countback (both with 34 points). All joking aside with Paul's clubs, he was really struggling with his new woods, but included with his purchase was a FREE club check/lesson to iron out any problems he may have and sure enough we did just that last week and with a couple of tweaks to his set-up and swing, we got him hitting his new woods lovely. I just hope he can continue it on the course! New clubs can take a little getting used to because they are different, but different doesn't mean wrong, they may just require a little practice to get the feel of them.
On Sunday we had the latest Todd & Turner Mugs fourball betterball competition where Glen Lark and Martin Farrow returned a great score of 45 points to win from Chris and Colin Beare in second with 43 points.
Friday Night Golf League
Next we'll move on shop news and a reminder about the Friday Night Golf League in the pro shop. As last year this competition will be held on Friday evenings in the Swing Zone starting at 6:00pm. It will be a four man, nine hole Texas Scramble over the back nine of the Brabazon course at The Belfry with a combined 10% handicap allowance. The wining team will be the team with the best nett score at the end of February. Entry for this will be £10 per person with all money to go back in to prizes. The entry sheet is on the mixed noticeboard with various Friday nights available through to February, but please try and get in early to avoid the disappointment of not being able to play.

Talking of the Swing Zone, please remember the new pricing structure including the warm-up sessions:

Testimonial
Ok on to coaching news now and my latest testimonial from someone who has taken the unlimited lesson package to try and inspire a few others to do the same. Lin Kitchingham had never played golf before and said to me 'had no hand-eye co-ordination what so ever" but after a couple of initial taster lessons she decided golf was the sport for her. Here is what she had to say about her unlimited lesson package.
"I was given the unlimited lesson package as a gift and what a gift it was! My knowledge of golf in the beginning was minimal to say the least - I could hardly hit the ball at all. After six months I am now a competent golfer, with an absolute love of the game and it's all thanks to Duncan's kindness and patience during our lessons. I can't recommend it enough, it's outstanding value for money and really good fun."
Thank you Lin for your kind words and if anybody else in interested in doing an unlimited lesson package for either six months or one year then please let me know ASAP as I only have four spaces left for 2017. The six month package costs £295 and the one year package costs £495 which also includes FREE use of the Swing Zone to practice your skills. Golf lessons are available every day apart from Monday and also on Wednesday evenings until 8:00pm.

Children's Christmas Party
A big thank you to Jane in the office and Ruth Barlow for organising the Children's Christmas Party last Saturday. I don't many other golf clubs that put on such a great event for children. My little boy Ethan certainly had a great time and was delighted to meet, an all too familiar, Santa as I'm sure the other kids were too!
