Pros news

Royal Cromer Pro-Am

Pro-AmOk on to Pro-Am news and a great day out at Royal Cromer last Friday where Gorleston's "B" team, Oli's team which consisted of Mark Everard, Ray Pope and Clyde Leggett did really well to finish eight under and were in second place until the last two teams came in to both beat them so finished in a very credible fourth place. However, I know Mark was desperately disappointed as he wanted to win another bit of crystal to add to his collection which he would of had if he came third, bad luck Mark! My team of Martin Ling, Jonathan Ling, Matt Alp and myself didn't fair so well as we struggled all day to finish 2-over-par with the highlight being the way Martin Ling hit the demo Titleist 917 driver, which kept me happy-ish all day as I could see £399 coming my way. In the individual Pro's comp both Oli and I struggled on the greens with both of us coming nowhere near the prize money, but Oli did beat me for the second tournament running so at least he had that to go away with. That's it for the season for me, I've pulled out of the Pro-Am at Caister as my putting is really at an all-time low so that's the project for the winter, find a new putting method and then plenty of practice on the putting green!

Competition news

On the Course...

On to competition news and we'll go back to last Wednesday's Ladies Monthly Medal and in Division One Christine Knappett won with a nett 77, in second came Rosemary Woodhouse with 79 and third came Jan Parsons with a nett 80. In Division Two Victoria Watson took the win with a nett 75, Terry Wilkinson came second with a nett 76 and Marieta Holmes came third with a 77.

Last Thursday's first Winter Mid-week Stableford was won by Kevin Shaw with 42 points in Division Two with Damien Foxhall second with 40 points and Maurice Loomes third with 39. In Division One Colin Laws won with 38 points and Barry Manser was second with 37.

I have to say with both Kevin Shaw and Victoria Watson winning their respective competitions, it's a win for the warm-up on the simulator team as they were the only two that did exactly that before their competition wins last week. Both invested £3 each to warm-up in the Swing Zone before play so well done guys you have both shown how important it is and if the best players in world have to do so before they play, then we certainly should!

Saturday's Roll-up became a non-qualifier as there were some temporary greens thanks to the frost, but that didn't stop Damien Foxhall continuing his form by winning with 41 points and beating David Mathews in to second with 38 points.

Due to the wet weather Sunday's Stableford was cancelled so refunds will be given if you would like to collect them from the shop.
