Hello golfers,
Club Championships
Well what a fantastic weeks golf at Gorleston Golf Club and we'll start this week with a win for Danny Western in the Club Championships. In a very closely fought affair where both Josh Manser, the first round leader, and Chris Duffy had excellent chances to win the championships, it was Danny who came out on top with a gross score of 150 in tough conditions! Well done Danny thoroughly deserved! In second came Chris Duffy on 151 with Josh Manser and Danny Perring tied third on 153.
Sir John Drughorn Trophy
In the Sir John Drughorn Trophy, the handicap competition, Daniel Crosby won with a nett score of 141, with Lee Chapman second on 142 and Chris Beare and Jack Butcher tied for third on 143. Luke Thompson, from Rookery Park, won the open scratch prize.

Danny's win in the Club Championship capped off a great weekend, not only for himself, but for all the other best male golfers in the club, as on the Saturday before they won their semi final of the Stenson Shield against Felixstowe Ferry at Woodbridge. The lads put in a great performance against tough opposition to win the match 8 points to 4. The lads now have a chance to become only the second ever Gorleston Golf Club team to win the Stenson Shield, the first in 30 years, in the final against Woodbridge, at Diss, on Saturday 10th September.
If you can go to Diss and lend your support, I intend to, I know the lads will be much appreciative!

Liam Hamsey, from Bungay won the Ralph Moffitt Bowl with a gross score of 77 and Georgia Parker, from Bury St Edmunds, won the Handicap Cup, just pipping home favourite Jack Butcher on count back, with a nett score of 70 to also win the West Cup for girls. All 18 enjoyed their day out at the seaside in what were tricky conditions.
Ladies Results
Last Wednesday the ladies held their divisional medal. Division 1 was won by Linda Jones with a nett 71, Jayne Needham won division 2 with a nett 68 and Jean Eagling won division 3.
Sticking with the ladies section and yesterday, Wednesday, the ladies had there Invitation Day which was won by Andree Bloomfield and Carol Delf with a fabulous 49 points. In second came Neilma Jary and J Hallett 48 points on count back from Maureen Dark and Rosie Owen also with 48 points.

Family Fun Day
This Saturday we have the Family Fun golf afternoon and BBQ. We still have several tee times left if you fancy bringing a non golfer friend or family member along for a 6-hole bit of fun off the blue tees plus BBQ.
It doesn't matter if the non golfer literally hasn't played golf before, that is the whole point of the afternoon, to try and encourage more people to take up the game. If you are interested please give me call on 01493 662 103.
