Hello golfers,
Unfortunately this will only be a very brief newsletter this week as I haven't got much time to write it as I have so many teaching commitments this week, which is absolutely great by the way!
On the Course...
So first we'll start with the Tolly Cobbold team who unfortunately lost their semi-final match at Diss against Felixstowe Ferry on Sunday. Stuart Low, Club Vice Captain and team sponsor with his company Bluelimit Surveys Ltd, said it all came down to the putting and unfortunately for us, Felixstowe just managed to hole more putts on the day. Still a great effort gents for reaching the semis and I'm sure the experience will make you better all-round players!
Next we'll move on to the Richard Hunt Memorial Fund Day played last Friday which was a superb day where we raised well over £2,000 for the fund, which supports membership and coaching for the junior section. Ray Thomson won the day with 41 points, but the real stars of the day were Vaughan Cutter who organised a fantastic day fully supported by Richard Hunt's family, Julie, Tommy and Annie. Well done to everyone who took part and put their hand in their pockets to support our junior golfers!
Last Thursday we had the Men's Mid-week Stableford in which Eddie Reid pipped Lee Chapman and Paul Platten on countback to claim Division One all with 37 points. Les Tuck had the best score of the day with 41 points and won Division Two ahead of Stanley King with 37 points.
On Saturday we had two competitions, the Roll-up Stableford which was won by Ian Harbord with 34 points, and the Russell Dellar Salver Family Foursomes which was won by Hayden Grand and Victoria Watson with a nett 72.
On Sunday we had the Men's Monthly Medal and Malcom King Vase. Ray Pope continued his great run of form by winning the Malcom King Vase and Division Two with a nett 65, with Roger Cook second in that Division with a nett 67. Richard Reynolds won Division One with a nett 67 and Alan Attoe won Division Three with a nett 73. Special mention also goes to Jim Robison who had a hole-in-one on the 11th and will no doubt get a nice Hugo Boss watch and a share of the twos money for his efforts!
Good luck to the Stenson team who play there semi-final match against Felixstowe Ferry at Woodbridge on Saturday.
