Hello golfers,
Ok, for those hadn't realised, I'm back from my holiday, fully refreshed and raring to go! Which is just as well as we've lots to get through this week. First of all thanks to Oli for doing a great job in command of the shop last week and for writing last week's newsletter and also to Tom for helping out on Oli's days off. Both have the Norfolk Amateur this weekend at their home course, Great Yarmouth & Caister, so I wish them luck with that. This does mean however that neither can work this weekend so I have my wife Nina coming in to help.
Get into Golf
In coaching news I have a few spaces left for two more Get into Golf beginner group sessions starting Wednesday, 15 June (6pm - 7pm) and Saturday, 18 June (10am - 11am). Both are £20 for a four week course. This is a fun, relaxed and inexpensive way of getting a taste for golf, so if anyone knows of anyone that might be interested please click here to get in touch.
Wilson Fitting Day
Now we'll move on to shop news and the Wilson Fitting day held on Wednesday which I have to say was a great success. Thank you to all those who took part and came down to try the Wilson equipment and I know those that did were mightily impressed with what Wilson have to offer. For those that missed it but would like to try some of the Wilson equipment, or any other of the brands I stock, please book yourself a fitting session with myself and we can work through what we need to do to improve your game.

On the Course...
Right on to competition news and we'll start with the ladies section and their victory in the Stearn Trophy preliminary round over Thorpeness by two matches to one played on Monday. Well done to the team, a great performance and good luck in the next round. The ladies also played a friendly match at Barnham Broom last Friday and came away with a fantastic victory three matches to one.
In individual results, on Wednesday, 1 June the ladies played their Australian Spoons competition with Maggie Hart and Shelia Sterry taking the spoils with 31 points on a horrible day. On Wednesday, 8 June the ladies played their Peugeot Coronation Foursomes in which Terri Collingwood and Heather Harvey won with a fine 37 points.
On to the gent's competition news now and we'll start with last Thursday's Mid-week Stableford and winning Division One with a fine 38 points in really tough conditions was Steve Hall. In second came Ray Thompson and David Wooden, both with 35 points. In Division Two Steve Howick's practice is starting to pay off as he won with 35 points and in second place it was nice to see Barry Collingwood's return to form, after a lesson last week, with 34 points.
On Saturday the men had their Famous Grouse Foursomes competition where Steve Symonds and Ray Henwood won with a nett 71 with Mark Seeley and Rob Allen coming second with a nett 72.
Sunday saw the Monthly Medal take place where Danny Western returned to form to win Division One with a gross 72 nett 71 to beat Steve Hall on countback in to second also with a nett 71. In Division Two Jim Woodhouse returned a nice nett 70 to win with Ray Pope and Ray Henwood in second and third respectively with nett 71s. In Division Three Martin Bullen won with a nett 72.
