Hello golfers,

We'll start this week with a reminder that the battery trade-in ends this Sunday, 15 May. So anyone looking to upgrade their lead acid battery to a lithium battery, I will trade-in your old one for £25 OFF a new one, but only before Sunday.

 

Captain/Pro Challenge

Next we'll go on to Neil and I's latest Captain/Pro Challenge match against Mark Seeley and Paul Finch which resulted in a win for Neil and myself by five holes. Neil and I were three up through the first six but with some good golf played by both Mark and Paul they hauled themselves back to only one down playing the 11th. This turned out to be the turning point though as Paul, unfortunately for them, missed a tricky eight footer down the hill to win the hole and get the match back to all square but it slid by. Neil won the next and eventually we wore Mark and Paul with our steady golf, Neil was one over his handicap and I was level par, to win comfortably in the end. It was a great game though with a lot of laughs and the game could have been so much closer had Mark's putter been a bit warmer. I hope Mark and Paul's putters both warm-up for tomorrow (Thursday) as they are joining me, along with Rob Allen, at the latest Norfolk PGA Pro-Am at Bawburgh, which with the forecast should be a great day!

If anyone would like to play against Neil and I in a Captain/Pro match, spaces are filling up quickly so please let me know ASAP. Also please note for your diary that my day, The Duncan Abbott Golf Day, or the Captain/Pro Finals day as it's now called has been changed to Saturday, 8 October. It would be great for everyone play that day for me to show you my appreciation of your support, even if we can't get to play you in a match.

 

On the Course...

Next we'll move on to competition news and we'll start with last Thursday's Mid-week Stableford. The winner in division one was Kev Carter with 40 points and in division two Robert Jones beat Ray Beare, both with 40 points, on countback to claim first place.

On Friday the seniors unfortunately lost their Beaumont Trophy match against Brett Vale by five holes. On Saturday we had The Golden Jubilee Mixed Medal which became a family affair with dad, Dave Butcher, beating son, Jack Butcher, in to second place with brilliant scores of nett 65 and nett 68 respectively. Danny Perring came third with a superb gross 71 nett 70.

On Sunday we had the Monthly Medal along with the Millichamp Trophy where Ian Root won the Trophy and Division Two with a fantastic nett 66 beating Ray Pope in to second in both with a nett 69. Ray Thomson won Division One with a nett 69 and Dave Butcher continued his good weekend by winning Division Three with a nett 72.

Lastly in competition news, the ladies lost their latest friendly match at Bungay by three matches to one but enjoyed their day none-the-less.
