Hello golfers,

We'll start this week with the US Masters and a win for Englishman Danny Willett! What a great final round from Danny, to go bogey free for 18 holes on any day at Augusta is great golf but to do it on a Sunday afternoon is fantastic. I did feel for Jordan Speith, after those four birdies on the front 9 he, like the rest of us, must of thought he had it won but it just goes to show how the pressure can effect even the greatest of golfers.

Another very happy Englishman will be Dean Chilvers who drew Danny Willett in the sweepstake and picked up £63.33 on to his pro shop account for his efforts. Click here to view the full results.

 

Mid-week Stableford

Ok now on to club competition news and Thursday's Mid-week Stableford Winter Final which was won by Tony Bushkes with 39 points. Second came Paul Platten with 38 points and third, on countback, came Kevin Shaw with 37 points. A special mention should also go to Steven Hall who won the aggregate for the Winter Series.

Winter Foursomes

Next is something I meant to mention last week and congratulations to Chris Duffy and Danny Weston who won the final of the Winter Foursomes by defeating Andy Podd and David Mathews in the final by one hole. Chris and Danny birdied the final two holes to win in style, well done gents!

Spring Handicap Cup and the Scratch Coronation Bowl

Now on to the ladies and their Spring Handicap Cup and the Scratch Coronation Bowl both played on Wednesday. The Spring Handicap Cup was won by Jan Parsons with a nett 73 and the Scratch Coronation Bowl was won by Anne Amos also with a 73.

 

Captain/Pro Challenge

Ok now on to my golf and the first Captain/Pro Challenge match of the year. On a lovely morning last Friday myself and the Captain, Neil Youngs, took on Dan Buckley and Peter Langford. In what was a very close match the Captain and I just didn't take our chances early on and with great spurt of Peter and Dan winning four consecutive holes on the front nine (we started on the 10th) the Captain and I ended up losing by two holes. As always with these matches it was great fun and Dan and Peter thoroughly deserved their victory! Next up on Friday we are playing Bob Richardson and Bill Haykin so we're very much looking forward to that. We still have a few spaces left if you want to challenge us, just pop in to the shop and we can confirm a time and date to play.

 

Titleist Ball and Wedge Fitting Day

Lastly a bit of shop news and just a reminder that on Monday, 9 May we are having a Titleist ball and wedge fitting day. We have the Titleist fitting technician coming in for four hours, between 1pm - 5pm, to do four one hour group fitting/education sessions. This will be a great way to learn about all of the different options that the Vokey wedges have, give them a try and with the correct ball fitting, you should be able to gain a lot more control around the greens!
