Friday Night Swing Zone Challenge
We now move on to Swing Zone news and Tony Cater, John Cater, Kevin Stokes and Jack Butcher took part in the first Friday Night Swing Zone Challenge and produced a score of 42 (nett 39.5) in the 9 hole Texas Scramble around the back nine of The Belfry Brabazon course. Although I wasn't there, Oli looked after them, they said although they found the putting tough it was great fun and far better than sitting at home watching tele! Next up we have Daniel Crosby, Matt Alp, Chris Duffy and Jonathan Ling this Friday, 8 January. Anyone else wanting to play the entry list is on the board opposite the committee room.
Course News
Despite the recent mild weather the course has taken a bit of a beating because of the rain which is likely to lead to future course closures, please remember you are more than welcome to use the Swing Zone for play or practice for just £15 per hour for members.
Wednesday Night Lessons
After the festive break Wednesday night lessons have started again as well as the normal day time lessons. Wednesday night lessons are available in the Swing Zone up until 8pm on Wednesday evenings, perfect if you work all week and play at the weekends, and now is the perfect time to start working at your game so that you are in good shape for the upcoming season.

Competition Results
Ok now to competition news and we'll start with the men's section and all the way back to the Mid-week Stableford played on Thursday, 17 December. Brendan Gough had a fantastic round of golf and won Division One with 44 points off his handicap of five, great score Brendan! In second came Jim Scott with 41 points and Jim Clarke came third with 40 points. In Division Two Stephen Bowles won with another fantastic 44 points with Peter Aldred second on 42 and David Tungate third with 41 points.
Next we move on to the Mixed Christmas Foursomes played on Saturday, 19 December where Peter Aldred continued his good form by winning with his partner Jayne Standen with 36 points.
On Wednesday, 23 December the ladies played their Four Clubs and a Putter competition which was won by Pauline Phillips with a tremendous 37 points! In second came Jayne Standen with 29 points with Shelia Sterry third with 25 points.
The following Wednesday, 30 January the ladies had their Red, White and Blue Foursomes 9 hole competition. This competition was played off a mixture of tees, red, white and blue thus the name and was won by Shelia Sterry and Thelma Evans with 18 points on countback from Heather Harvey and Maggie Hart.
On Sunday, 3 January the men had their first competition of the year and Daniel Crosby cleaned up. Not only did he win Division One with 40 points but he was the only person to get a two on the day, on the first, for which he pocketed £54 for his account. Well done Daniel a nice start to the year, looks like those new Vokey wedges are doing the job! In second place in Division One came Patrick Greaney with 39 points on countback from Andy Patrick. Division Two was won by John Hopwood with 39 points with Rob Allen second with 37 points. Division Three was won by Andy Klein with 38 points and Martin Bullen, who's chipping must be improving, came second with 37 points.
I wish you all well for 2016, let's hope we continue to stay healthy, enjoy our golf and improve!
