Competition results

Mid-week stableford

We start this week with last Thursday's Mens Mid-week Stableford. In division one Jim Robinson won with 41 points on countback from Richard Reynolds also with 41 and Angus Smith came third with 40 points. In division two Mick Soards won with 42 points from Kevin Shaw in second with 39 and Mervyn Eagle came third with 38 points.

Monthly Medal

On Sunday we had the Men's Monthly Medal and in division one Colin Beare won with a nett 71 on count back from Dave Henwood also on 71 with Bob Cooper third with a nett 73. In division two Noel Thomson won with a nett 69 with Graham Leach second with a nett 71 and Dean Chilvers third with a nett 72. In division three David Mills won with a fantastic nett 65 with Damien Foxhall second on nett 67 on countback from Andy Klein also with a nett 67, well done you three great scoring in division three.

I guess the big news from Sunday was that there was only one person recorded a two, that had entered, and that being combined with a roll over from the last monthly competition means that Ady Price won £90 on to his account for the two he achieved on the 7th hole! Well done Ady!

Ladies Result

The ladies on Wednesday played there 10 hole foursomes stableford followed by their Christmas lunch. Maureen Duckett and Sheena Emrick came first with 21 points, Pauline Phillips and Marian Anderson came second on countback with 21 points, Terrie Collingwood and Rosemary Hodgkin came third with 19 points and Neilma Jary and Jayne Needham came fourth with 18 points. Christmas lunch followed and by the noise coming from the clubhouse a good time was had by all.

Pros news

Last Pro-Am of the year

Back to my golf now and my last Pro-Am of the year at Great Yarmouth & Caister. Well unfortunately it didn't go the way I wanted, and thought it might go after Thursday's practice. A couple of three wiggles in the first three holes really dented my already very fragile confidence with the short stick and from there, although I putted better, I struggled to control my ball flight in the breeze and therefore my distances which put too much pressure on my short game which led to a seven over par 77. My team of Angus Smith, David Wooden and Arthur Fellingham faired little better but we enjoyed ourselves none the less!

Many thanks to all the members who supported me in the Pro Ams over the Autumn, I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I will have a list up in the New Year of all the Pro Ams I intend to play in throughout 2016, they usually start in late February, so anyone wishing to play in any please let me know.

As far as my game goes it's quite simple really, I'm really very happy with my long game, even my driving is starting to improve (all the practice on the simulator is really paying off) but the short game and mainly my putting needs lots of work and if I can find a method I can trust on the greens, then next year I will hopefully have a bit more success!

Srixon AD333 golf balls - 2015

Mizuno

There are a number of excellent options within Mizuno's irons range, and with the brand's fitting cart we can fit you with the irons that are right for your game. Ask the team about a fitting and we'll be only too happy to explain how things work.

Srixon AD333

Switching to a yellow ball in the winter is not a bad idea, it will certainly save you from losing so many balls for when you stray off line and when the light is fading. Srixon's AD333 is an excellent option; give it a go and see how you get on.
